After unit director responses, heartfelt consideration and daily serious conversations with our board of directors and the Wildwood Convention Center we have made the decision to cancel the forty eighth Tournament Indoor Association Atlantic Coast Championship. In addition, all TIA events for the rest of the 2020 TIA season are canceled.
The growing concern over the COVID-19 virus and the effects of those who trust us made this decision a very difficult but a necessary one for the health and safety of our students, staff, families and fans. We know there will be disappointment, but our major concern is for the well-being of our Tournament members and our own NJA members.
In forty-eight years, this is the first ever TIA Championship event to be canceled.
Thank you to all our members for your loyal support this year, and through many years, of our Tournament events. We look forward to your TOB performances this fall and your TIA performances in 2021!

Tournament of Bands (TOB) is divided into 13 regions. Region 8 includes Western Pennsylvania. You can find out more about the organization at their website – www.njatob.org
TOB runs marching band festivals in the fall season with different levels of adjudication based on the needs of each band. The TOB season culminates with regional championships, followed by all-region Atlantic Coast Championships featuring the top bands from all 13 Regions.
Tournament Indoor Assicoation (TIA), TOB’s indoor performance organization, runs indoor shows with indoor color guards, marching, standstill, and concert percussion ensembles, twirlers, and dance teams, as well as adjudication festivals for jazz bands. The TIA Season ends with region championships followed by All-Region Championships, the “Weekend in Wildwood,” featuring over 200 performing units from around the 13 regions.
Tournament’s motto is “performance excellence through positive reinforcement.” All competitive and non-competitive adjudications are with the education of the student in mind.
The best part about involvement with TOB and TIA – it is run for the students, by it’s members, and the membership fee is very reasonable (a nominal dues per year and no per-show charge!) Please contact the region coordinator for more information on joining the Tournament of Bands.
